MINORSFINAL 8/8: Which team is hotter?

First, forget Gwinnett and the camp teams.

The G-Braves have been awful in August (2-4). Camp teams both sub .500.

However...

MISSISSIPPI, after sweeping DH on Thursday, have won 11 of 14 and is in a virtual 3-way tie for first with 22 games left in the season.

LYNCHBURG won five straight at the end of July, but is 2-4 in August and has slipped four back of Potomac, which has won six straight.

ROME(!) has won five straight and seven of eight in a terrific play-for-pride showing by what was one of baseball's worst teams the first half. But they are still "only" 21-26 in the second half, 13 back and 11 games away from elimination.

DANVILLE has let first place slip away by losing four of five, three by one run. But the D-Braves are still one-half game ahead of Pulaski, one game up on Princeton.

Nice to see Rome playing well. Pitching is all the difference. Big plus has been the addition of some of the 2014 draftees (Diaz, Barker, Dirks).

Credit where it's due: turnaround happened right as Schrader returned from knee injury. Early on, he was only guy on the team driving in runs.
