MLB Blackout Policy

I live in Eastern North Carolina and purchased MLB TV. The last two game vs the Nationals have been blacked out "due to MLB policy." With the games not on TV, I have been out of luck.

My question/comment is this: What is the purpose of blacking out games when I do not live in the "Braves territory?" It seems strange to black out games on a subscription service.

I think you're in Nats territory

I unfortunately am. Still, life long Braves fan. Since it is at Atlanta, why black it out?

The good news is that nothing will be done about it ever despite a plethora of complaints. It's been like this for approximately a billion years.

I think the biggest issue is with MASN.

Not for certain, but I'm pretty sure if you download the Fox Sports app and sign in, you should be able to watch it. At least I've never had an issue with it.

Use the mlb at bat app and you can watch the MASN feed. I’m in NC and when I’m not at home I can watch it on the app. Since I HATE the gnats broadcasters I actually don’t watch it until it’s over and watch the archive version a few minutes after the game ends. That way I can watch the Braves feed. They don’t blackout the archive replay.

That requires you to have a Fox Sports account/pay for FS already in that territory.

Use Bilasports. You can literally get any sports event you want for free if you have an internet connection. I've had no issues with security and it doesn't have a crazy amount of pop ups or anything like that either.

I guess I was assuming he already had a TV service provider of some sort. I know Dish has had issues with black outs as well, but I've read if you download a VPN you can get around that.

That's who I use as well. They are the best.

Sometimes blackout rules work in my favor. They blacked out a Rockies game on MLB Network (who are rarely on National TV because of their odd start times) last week, and instead showed Braves-Nats. In fact, between the MLB free preview week and some nicely timed national games, every game since the ASB has been on TV here.

I'm also forced to watch the Nats broadcasts. They're insufferable. "There goes the no-hitter." "Same seats everyone." Showing the same home run by a Nats player every inning thereafter. Ugh. At least it used to be (very) enjoyable watching Ray Knight lose his **** after each loss. My dad and I would just laugh every time, really looked forward to it. But they fired him in the offseason, so now there's no redeeming qualities to the broadcasts.

Well it appears Dish and FSS have a quibble. No coverage for me at the moment til they work it out or “if they do”. It hasn’t worked out with hbo or the like.
