Man, we missed those guys. Hopefully they are back healthy next year.
We're heading back to ATL right now if even one of them is healthy.
Why wouldnt we bring them back? I doubt either will be expensive coming off TJS, and we will have guys(Kimbrel, Walden, Avilan to name a few) that can carry the pen until those guys are ready. Its going to be an interesting offseason. Its fun though because this is a 96 win team and we can bring everybody back if we wanted, but lets see what happens.
Wood should be considered as the second LH starter (sort of as a baby Avery with Minor as baby Glavine) after Maholm (baby Liebrandt) leaves for free agency. EOF could be re-signed, but they're not going to significantly overpay to bring him back either, since there are already other LH relievers, esp. with Venters returning.
Our plan for Wood should be this: Start 2014 in the pen as the second lefty alongside Avilan. Go back to AAA for seasoning/stretching out as a starter when one of EOF/Venters returns. Be our main reserve in the event one of our starters (Minor, Medlen, Teheran, Hudson, Beachy) goes down. I think the odds are well over 50% that Wood will be in the major league rotation at some point in the second half of 2014. The plan sketched above has the virtue of holding down his innings so he can be fresh and strong late in the season.
wrong kind of "morning". a mourning game would be what the braves are playing today..Maybe they can lobby MLB for some mourning games. I hear thats when Wood's at his hardest to beat.
