The Padres are making splashes and bringing in big names, but it's far from a guarantee that it works out. Remember Toronto just a couple of seasons ago? There are still flaws in this Padre team.

Have you seen their infield overall or their outfield defense? They are slightly better than .500 and will finish 10 games behind LA.

Yea, Padres are improving on offense but they've gotten worse on defense. They are still unlikely to make the playoffs this year, IMO. But they could become a contender for a Wild Card with a few more moves if everything breaks right.

Yea, I remember many thinking they were a playoff team after big trades with Florida (Miami) and also getting Dickey from the Mets, etc. But those moves didn't pan out well at all that season.
