Phillies sign Cedric Hunter

Hate to see the Braves fail to give him a chance. Feel strongly that he's a better player than some of the FAs that are coming in:

Hunter last year: .283-12-77, 11 SBs at Gwinnett.

He's a lefty hitter, he's from Decatur (my hometown!) and he's still gonna be only 27 Opening Day. Am betting he finds 300-400 ABs for Phillies this year.

Dang. Was really hoping we'd re-sign him.

I like Hunter and all, but am afraid there's far less chance he sees that many opportunities in Philly than there was if he'd have stayed here.

Odubel Herrera, Peter Bourjos, Aaron Altherr, Cody Asche, Tyler Goeddel (Rule V pick), Darin Ruf breaking camp with the big club with Nick Williams and Roman Quinn breathing down their necks and starting at Reading to keep their clocks from starting. Bourjos is likely to be released by midseason if they can't flip him. Asche and Goeddel aren't likely to see 300-400 ABs for them this season.

Hunter's much more organizational depth for them - think Eury Perez and Zoilo Almonte.
