There's a reason they play the games. My only beef with all of the statistical projections is that however thorough and comprehensive they are, they are still based on the assumption that past performance correlates with future results. Going into the season, did anyone think that the Orioles would be playing .352 ball at this point in the 2025 season?

It's too early to really bring out the worry beads, but that doesn't mean that there aren't concerns.

It doesn't help that seemingly all the talent is in the NL right now. These teams are stacked and I'm not sure 90 wins gets in in the NL this year. Last year was the highest win requirement for a 6-team playoff ever at 89 wins. My guess is it's gonna be like 92 or 93 this year.

It also doesn't help that the four NL west teams could collectively go 46-6 against the Rockies.

I am just not sure this team ever gets going. They seem lost, disjointed and pretty much checked out. It is not just bad plate appearances, but also defense and baserunning.. nothing looks cohesive.

Why I wish they would go ahead and make the coaching staff change. literally dismiss the entire staff and bring in interims until season end. will it do anything.. who knows.. but it can't be worse at this point.

I get the sentiment, but they aren't going to make wholesale changes midseason. If they fire Snitker before the season ends, it leaves open the possibility that Weiss, Perez, or whoever gets named interim benefits from all the guys underachieving suddenly finding their stride. If an interim guides the team to the playoffs then AA will likely make that guy the permanent manager, and nothing structurally changes with the leadership.

I agree the team won't make a change and making a change to just make a change is pointless really.

But a couple of counter points...

1. I absolutely hate punting another season of Acuna's contention window. This absolutely feels like a punt of a season with this coaching staff (manager/bench/hitting in particular)
2. I 100% don't trust this organization to just allow twit to make his replacement call and get another 'Braves way' Bobby Cox disciple to come in and start 2026.. so just rip the band aide and start now.
3. I really, really, really DON'T want twit getting to go out on his terms.. he is a do nothing leach that doesn't deserve the honor of retiring as a Brave with dignity. Even if it is the last week of the season.. FIRE HIS STUPID LOW IQ FAT ASS.. don't let him retire.

you know if Perez could handle the basic tasks of following a few analytical decision and have the ability to learn and adapt, then I wouldn't care if he continued on as manager if the players responded. I don't think anyone is looking for a baseball savant to be the next manager.. just someone who understands simple things like handiness advantage, how to deploy pinch hitter, games off are ok, TTTO advantages in relation to score, lineup construction, etc... I think about 10 guys here could grasp these basics and do a good enough job to win a few more games around the margin. Twit is absolutely the dumbest person in the game and has shown no ability to handle any of these in his entire Brave's career.

40 years as a Brave and. a trophy are plenty enough to let him leave on his terms. Y'all take baseball too seriously. I still love the Braves, Cowboys, and NASCAR as much as I ever did, but it is not worth hand-wringing over.

I think most of these projection models are banking on the Braves' offense finally clicking. If we want to be optimistic, this is the first time in literally a year that the entire lineup is healthy. So, while it might feel like we’re looking at a small sample size, that’s just a reflection of how inconsistent the team has been over the past year or so.

People often point to Olson and Riley and cite their wRC+ over that stretch, but that can be a bit misleading. Both got off to slow starts last year - Riley in particular caught fire in June and was one of the best hitters in baseball over his next 250 plate appearances before getting hurt. Olson had a very strong second half and has been solid this year too.

It’s not a small sample, but it’s also not a simple story. Let’s just hope these guys align with their successful track record sooner rather than later.

Twit was demoted as 3rd base coach.. he literally hung around long enough to be granted an opportunity to take over for an even dumber Braves way manager..He was handed the keys to a Bentley and drove it like a chevy..

And having a point of view and taking things too seriously are not the same.. I don't go to bed mad when the Braves lose.. I mostly like to have fun at their expense truthfully. But my contempt for twit is more he represents someone we all can relate too in the real world.. that employee who rides the coat tails of others.. they are the ones out back smoking but still complaining how busy they are... they rarely take a lot of time off because they are afraid that their lack of worth will get exposed... they literally hide in the shadows collecting pay checks and riding the corporate gravy train trying not to get noticed other than for tenure at a company.... Hey, we want to congratulate Bob for his 40 years of service as a data analyst... his college colleagues want to take him out for drinks tonight. We all know Bob and really we don't like Bob that much.

I look at this like firing a college football coach for underperforming and then replacing him with someone on his staff. There may be individuals who could do a better job, but it does nothing to correct the culture. For whatever reason guys aren't playing anywhere near their potential under the current group. They really haven't under Snitker for any length of time with the exception of post-ASB in 2021 and 2022 and the 2023 regular season.

Well, that’s just not true. They certainly did in 2018, 2019, and 2020(if you count that). Not that I think it had anything to do with Snitker.
