Political Differences

That's LMAO funny.

I'll give you a minute.

Jamal Khashoggi
Otto Warmbier
The U.S. State Department
Mike Pompeo
giving the Russians Israeli intelligence in the Oval Office
Marie Yanokovitch
Bill Taylor
Gordon Sondland
Mexico
making the U.S. look like buffoons on the world stage
the NK nuclear arms talks
the Russian Bounty fiasco
the Iran nuclear agreement
Lt. Colonel Vindman
Puerto Rico
Russia in Syria
China around the world
Hong Kong
The Kurds
The Ukraine
the level of trust people around the world have in the U.S.
Japanese people, who deep down respect America allowing it to prosper after its defeat, now are laughing (not a big deal but I experience it)

I'm not even particularly well-informed but I know enough to know that a great deal of the harm OO has done is yet to be revealed.

This is specificity?

The political differences are in a nut shell one group wants to expand and evolve the New Deal and the other side wants to scrap the New Deal through de regulation and tax cuts.

Wars and soco/poliyical rivalries come and go and serve as electotal vehicles for the opposing ideologies

Meaning ine group wants to control your life and the other wants you to control your life.

It is easy to see.

That is the grandest illusion of all, "you to controll your life"

But that is a whole other conversation

I think we are in a cultural civil war. We are in a post-truth world. Whatever we you want the truth to be there is media and an echo chamber for you. I am not going to argue politics in this thread but we are in a unique moment. There is a large group on each side that will not accept losing this election and its going to get ugly. I now see no scenario in which this is over on November 4th. The very ugly scenario I see creeping up in the odds is a very ugly and partisan legal battle that wont be settled on January 21st and that will trigger a weird scenario where Trump would have to give up the Presidency to Pelosi assuming she wins reelection. I dont see that going well.

One thing that I think people here should understand is that none of what we post here affects what happens. We could all agree and vote the same and it would not change any election result. We are not political commentators on TV viewers by millions. So I dont understand the dishonesty. I dont understand why people choose to get their news from an echo chamber only. I visit Libertarian circles and we laugh at how wrong everyone else is. It's a good time but you dont know propoganda from real news if you dont look at both sides. Heck I enjoy some Alex Jones or other crazy people at times.

All that said I think this time on our history will be a lot clearer in a few years.

I agree with this 100%

I will say there are a lot of people you start to argue with and you feel like it’s impossible because your fundamental realities are different. It’s not even that you have different values and priorities. The basic facts you use to start your arguments are different. Sometimes I feel like I can’t agree with someone enough to have a constructive argument.

People bring a load of unspoken assumptions to any discussion. These assumptions (aka propositions) get communicated by the things you say and the way you phrase things. That's why I have such a hard time listening to right wing radio and Fox News. The assumptions that I vehemently don't accept batter me about the head before I even get a chance to think about the main subject being discussed.

That's also why you can often tell a person's politics long before they say who they voted for. It's much more than buzz words.

A good example is Nancy Pelosi. Ask most conservatives and she is the reincarnation of Stalin and Chairman Mao who wants to make America communist but to mist if the left she is hated for refusing to back all the socialist stuff they want.
