0-3 with a ERA near 7 this year. I know it's early, but if he bombs this year... the Sox blew it by not trading him in the offseason. He also has a high ERA in his last 9 or so starts going back from last year. Really glad we didn't pull that trigger.

In other news...Julio is once again in the top ten so far...

Shhh...Teheran is not an ace. I've said it again and will continue to do so, he just has to be Atlanta's ace which he clearly is. You'll never see a "trade Teheran" from me. (Yes, I'm biased).

No idea if Teheran is an ace or not bc it's such a subjective term. What's the criteria a pitcher has to meet to be an ace?

You're right it's subjective. I'm not really even giving numbers, but he anchors this staff and has for a few years now. I'm not the numbers guy, but ace of a staff TO ME means that a pitcher is capable of shutting down the opposition on most nights. Does Teheran not do that? Some people point to HR's given up, etc., but on many of his starts if he'd had a decent offense or bullpen at various stages over the years, the wins would certainly be there.

Julio is the 2 most important things a starter can be.... effective and healthy. Really hard to find that combo these days.

I think ideally it would be a player who you could match up in Game 1 of an LCS without feeling like you were giving up anything to the other starter. Teheran is good.

Quintana's rough start might actually make this a good time to go see if you could acquire him on your own terms.

the Soxs would not sell him cheap after just 3 starts. But he would never fetch the price they are asking either. If he doesn't rebound, they will most likely keep him for the rest of the season.

Right. The ideal time to sell Q is with him pitching well at the deadline. If he has a couple of months of pitching like he has the past few years at that point then what he's done in his first handful of starts this year won't matter one bit.
