SATURDAY MINORS FINAL 9/4/21; Sweep for Gwinnett

First-game winner for Gwinnett Saturday is an under-the-radar left-hander named Dylan Lee. DFA'd by tghe Marlins at the end of spring training this season, he was named by the Braves on April 15th, and the 27-year-old Fresno State product has been a big piece of the bullpen picture in Gwinnett with a 5-1 record with a save and a 1.48 ERA.
Lee has allowed just 23 hits in 42 innings with 46 strikeouts and five walks. If he isn't signed and brought into camp next spring as a non-roster invite, they're nuts.

The play by play of Shoemaker’s debut inning was pretty good. A few infield singles. His strikeout actually came against Ji Man Choi.

Have been watching Jared Johnson since he was drafted - was really raw and is giving up quite a few HRs, but am guessing that means they're making him throw lots of offspeed pitches in his outings. Definitely a deep sleeper, but 10 Ks today shows it's in there if they can get to it.

I'm taking the performance of a lot of our 2019 guys with a grain of salt. The lack of a 2020 season and the lack of an advanced short-season league made some of them skip a developmental step. It's my guess that guys like Paolini and Johnson would have been in the Appalachian League if the former set-up were still in operation.
