Making his 2017 debut for Rome is Alan Rangel, a 19-year-old international signee from Mexico in 2014 (the year Yepez was the top signee). Rangel was 3-1, 3.28 for the GCL Braves last year, making nine starts after getting two saves as a 17-year old in 2015.

He is a 6-2, RHP who weighed 170 when he first turned pro.

He takes the place of Lawlor, who has gone onto the DL.

I've always been intrigued by Rangel. Curious to see what he's got. I expected him to be in Danville and that's where he may be once Lawlor recovers.

Definitely. The K/BB rates were pretty solid in the GCL last year. But I never would've guessed that he'd get a call to Rome before Muller.

Is it the fact they want to space pitching prospects out a bit more, because they will have too many hitting in the same years?

I highly doubt it. Not only would it be a terrible idea, but holding him back from A ball wouldn't even be a useful way of doing it. I'd think it's some combination of wanting to keep his innings down while also letting him work on specific things in a better learning environment.

Uh oh, the guy called Anderson a 3 like I did...he better get ready for posi-Braves to come after hm with pitchforks.

To be fair, he said "He's a 3 for me but there might be more in there since he's young and projectable"

Yenci Pena went 1-5 with a two-run single and two Ks.

Yunior Severino 0-4 with no strikeouts and one walk.

Which is a key difference between enscheff and most people. The author leaves room for his opinion to be wrong or augmented in some way.

Saying you think he might be a 3 with some reasoning is fine. Saying he has a ceiling of a 3 as is no doubt a 3 is overstating your hand

Great start for Soroka so far. 4 IP 2H 0 R 0 BB 4 K. 36 strikes in 47 pitches.

You can't keep these kids down. I know there will be calls to hold them till after June next year but I'm just not sure the braves can do that considering how well they've performed this year.
