No I don't. I think they should do their best to assimilate into their communities but not to "our culture"
That being said, I'm shocked you take issue with this article. Which means you didn't read it. Basically it says that assimilation means increased secularization and Muslims should be allowed to keep praying and hating homosexuality. And women should stay at home and raise kids. These all sound like things sturg would like.

I've spent plenty of time in rooms full of people smarter than me. I have a couple students this semester who I am pretty sure are smarter than I am. It is a joy to find such people.

I think your boy Chetty took the cushy easy route to “look at govt data”
Instead of going actually look at and talk to those people and why they are where they are and why this behavior is not only tolerated but celebrated by the culture.

Immigrants and their children do extraordinarily well by being choosy about which aspects of American culture to embrace. There are many aspects that are not to be recommended. As many native-born Americans themselves recognize.
Just to cite one that comes up for discussion here. Immigrants embrace education MUCH more. For many of them it is a dream to see their kids get a college education and often a graduate degree.

Why wouldn't I? If they value hard work and education. Those are not peculiarly American cultural traits. It somewhat comforts me that immigrants from almost anywhere would value a Nobel Prize over an SEC championship.
On holidays like New Year's when everyone else is closed, it is often immigrants who keep their shops and restaurants open. I'm grateful for the Halal Market down the street from me that is open when regular grocery stores are closed. I appreciate their hours and variety of food choices.

It's a big country, with many items on the cultural menu from which to choose. Sounds like sturg has a particular straightjacket into which he wants to force the rest of us. Hard pass. Very unlibertarian if you ask me. He wants to be left alone but isn't willing to leave the rest of us alone when choosing our values and culture.
