Serial Killer in Atlanta?

There was a murder in Piedmont Park in Atlanta this week. It apparently had some details too gruesome for police to release. The FBI has gotten involved which is a sign it's not simply a robbery gone wrong. Rumors have it that there were details of the murder that were absolutely disgusting and heinous. The kind of stuff that you see on Criminal Minds.

There is at least one other murder in a park in the Atlanta area and that has people on edge.

So if you're in Atlanta and especially if you're here and female, take some extra safety precautions.

Didn’t they just arrest three blacks that murdered multiple woman throughout the city over the past few months?

And they already have another? Damn

I heard something about that. This latest killing in Piedmont is something different. A woman and her dog stabbed to death and then the woman was reportedly mutilated. It's disturbing to say the least.

Man, you should just use the words you want to use

Just read about that killing with the dog. Who walks thier dog at 1am?

A man shot his gf four times because his unemployment website password didn’t work.

Nothing shocks me in Atlanta anymore

When the dog needs to piss or ****, people do that

And even if they didn’t do that, someone should be able to safely walk their dog at 1am without being mutilated

Police have said there's nothing to connect the Piedmont Park murder to any other murders in the area. That's probably true. However that doesn't preclude serial killer. The Atlanta police also said today that they brought in the FBI because the homicide was "so unique." Few specifics have been officially released but everyone who is in the know about the details has said what the murderer did was absolutely gruesome and like nothing they've ever seen before.

Additionally, in explaining why the FBI was brought in, it appears police believe the victim didn't know her killer. That seems to be a portion of why this fell outside the norm for murders.

So while they've not connected this killing to any others, that doesn't make me feel much better in terms of whether or not there's a serial killer on the loose. A person who stabs someone they don't know to death with no motive of robbery, kills their dog, and then mutilates both bodies seems to be someone who will do that again.
