Sigh

AFP has the toll at 73 right now.

It's hard to summon up the proper emotions anymore.

Vive la France.

I worked for a French company for a while and had the opportunity to travel there a fair amount. This was at the height of the Freedom Fries nonsense, but I left that experience with nothing but positive feelings about the folks that I interacted with. I have family living there now. I felt tremendous relief when the Euro Cup went off without incident. In light of that, I just feel wrecked now. Vive la France, indeed.

I was in Nice two years ago for Bastille Day; we ended up taking the train over to Marseille for the nighttime revelries. The most impassioned, fervent, proud celebrations of France I saw that night were in Marseille's Arab quarters. That's as much of a threat to these perverse discord-mongers as anything else, and those communities are as much a target of this violent wedge as "the rest" of France is.

This world is (becoming) a pile of garbage. Just another tragic event in the unfortunate long line of them.

No group has taken credit for it, but 99% of Tunisia's population are Sunni Muslims.
