So Where Are The Fits?

If Coppy could start unloading vets with the standings being what they are today, who are the potential dance partners if he continues trying to add prospects??? Feel free to tack on trade ideas for any as well.

1.) Kemp

Could he be a fit in St. Louis? With the continued struggles of all their OFs, they sure look like they could use that type of bat. He'd probably look awfully good in the middle of Toronto's lineup as well. Despite the Jays' slow start, they're far from out of it.

Kemp for Paul De Jong, or one of Bo Bichette or Max Pentecost.

2.) Johnson

There doesn't seem to be a current contender that desperately needs a Closer other than the D-Backs (and potentially Gnats, but just can't see Coppy trading within the division), so who night be trying to line up a "super pen" early on? There's little doubt that putting JJ in Arizona's pen would be a huge upgrade, but he'd probably be a really nice addition for the Dodgers, Astros, or Tigers as well.

Johnson for Socrates Brito and the D-Backs' Comp B pick (#68), Garrett Stubbs and the Astros' Comp B pick (#75), JaCoby Jones, or Will Smith.

3.) Garcia

With Taijuan Walker and Shelby Miller on the DL, the Snakes sure could use a starter too. The Orioles never seem to throw in the towel, so he'd certainly help there. The Angels obviously need arms, but are they or the Mariners crazy enough to try to add at this point with the Astros running away with the West?

Garcia for Brito or the D-Backs Comp B pick, Jomar Reyes or the Os' Comp B pick (#74), Brandon Marsh, or Joe Rizzo.

Don't know who could possibly be fits for Dat Dude, Markakis, or anyone else at this point - going to be awfully hard to move them or either of the other veteran SPs unless or until someone has a catastrophic injury IMO.

Speaking of fits, I wonder who could be moved for a comp pick. Pitchers like Withrow who might have the potential to start but are blocked here might make sense to flip.

As for the Kemp trades, I think the ship has already sailed on Bichette being available.

Socrates Brito? I'd just as soon have the ghost of Aristotle Onassis.

I would want to see Pentecost in AA before going near him.

I like the idea of going after some comp picks, but the guys you've listed aren't all that inviting.

The Twins need bullpen help and I don't know if Brandon Kintzler is going to last the season as their closer. Doing very well now, but it may be getting close to midnight.

Kemp has to go al

Flowers is the one I wonder if someone would give up something good for given catcher sucking and his option

Dave Cameron from FG had a chat today and said Kemp has little to no trade value

That's what every person unaffiliated with the Braves knows. The Braves were the only team willing to take that contract from SD for a reason.

The good news is a competitive team can win with an .850 OPS slugger with poor defense in LF if they are smart about defensive substitutions and DH assignments. Unfortunately, I have seen little evidence the Braves are competent at either.

Define value.

The Braves set his market last August at 25 million over three years. I would definitely think it's higher than that now.

His last two teams paid to get rid of him with no return.

He's owed 21 million a year. The braves almost certainly would have to pay to get rid of him, possibly with no return. if so that's the definition of limited trade value.

Let's assume that Kemp is still posing 950+ by mid July. You still believe the Braves will have to pay to get rid of him?
