This thread may be long or it may bomb, but SM being one of the most powerful factors of our lifetimes should certainly lead to some nice discussions.

Conservatives - Let the market decide, strong survive, etc.

Then you come on and say this.

I wonder why you say this about social media conglomerates where you have big players, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Twitch, TikTok, Youtube, Wechat, Tumblr, Reddit, Viber, Pinterest, and I know I'm forgetting other ones in other countries that are all individually owned. I excluded of course Instagram and Whatsapp as they're facebook owned. But why don't you say it about Cable or Broadband providers? Or cell phone providers. Before you come to me about Ting Mobile, there's a difference between Cell Providers and MVNOs.

FTR, thethe is not conservative on economics. He and I are similar in that regard, I think our economic stance would be better described as nationalist or populist.

And I'm with you on cable/broadband/cell providers. If they aren't going to be broken up then they need to be heavily regulated. It's absurd that my choices are to pay Comcast $100+ per month for only internet, or not have high speed internet. I'll do it without complaining much, but that's a back breaker for a lot of families, and exactly the type of monopoly that we're supposed to have regulations to prevent.
 
Social media is the devil. Truly the greatest source of evil and discord and in the United States today, and it has done irreparable harm.

For sure, social media algorithms of supplying instant dopamine has lead to increased tribalism.

It has 100% changed how we interact with each other.

Things are said there "insulated" that one would never say to another's face.

It has created an angrier population on the whole, not to mention the disorders young women get from it.

They realize this, and lean into it.
