Medical Update on Mike Soroka –
This past Thursday while walking to the clubhouse at Truist Park, Mike Soroka felt a pop in his right Achilles.

An MRI was performed, which revealed a complete re-tear of the tendon. Soroka will require season-ending surgery, which will be scheduled within the week.

Sigh.
 
With this kind of thing happening when he wasn't even being "active" - just an every day thing like walking - it's probably fair to wonder if he may be done for good I'm afraid.
 
Man I feel so bad for Soroka... he was primed to be a really excellent pitcher and seems like such a great guy.
 
Guys…just wave the white flag already. It’s.not.our.year. At least let’s get this cursed mojo out all in one year.

I’ll say this, as much as we are upset….imagine being Soroka. I feel so bad for him. He’s likely done. I do not know of any pro athlete to come back from two of these (name someone if your can think of one).


Definitely sounds like a botched surgery, or maybe he is just very injury prone and his body can not handle it. Either way…such a shame. Absolutely could have been a higher tier pitcher in his era. Now he may never pitch again…wow.

I think one of the contributing factors to this is that players are so much more athletic now and put so much more stress on their bodies. I that's exacerbated by the recovery schedules they put these guys through to get them back on the field.
