Sending AJ back down would be stupid. He has the potential that Elder doesn't. We all know Elder has maxed his potential. Send Holmes to the bullpen where he's a weapon and get rid of a reliever.

While that makes sense for the short term. What do you do when sale goes on the IL. Put Holmes back in rotation and then who. You have to have back up plans. And using options is the best way to maximize those plans. AJSS can start in trip A and not lose a beat.

Gotta think he has to stay up. Holmes to the pen and DFA one of these bum relievers makes the most sense to me.

The only one who has really pitched like a bum though is Montero, and we’re paying him 3 million.

So should the need arise, will be a luxury to have AJSS ready to go when it happens.
