Sydney Hostage Crisis

If you aren't watching, you can find live streams on BBC News or Australia's Channel 7.

Somewhere between 30-50 hostages are being held by what is largely believed to be an Islamic militant group at a coffee shop in downtown Sydney.

Latest reports say they have demanded to meet with Australia's PM Tony Abbott.

They are rigorous but not on the level of the UK or Japan.

Unsurprisingly, I've read a lot of conflicting information about whether or not the hostage takers have firearms. The initial report was a rifle, but now there's bits on machetes and improvised explosive devices.

Interesting. Time will tell I guess.

Regardless, I just hope these hostages make it out ok. We can talk politics about it later.

Indeed. It's depressing to see one of the remaining peaceable countries in existence being forced to endure this kind of senseless crime. History is being written.

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

Exactly.

Nothing bugs me more is buying something at the store and they got Spanish labeled on the can or bag.

The women is my hero. She has said some other harsh, but true things, about Sharia Law as well. Wish our politicians would grow a set and follow in her lead.

Liberalization of America will eventually be our downfall. Too many minds have been soured in this generation.
 
A little thing for sure but what really has bugged me is how cross walk lights went from "Don't Walk" to indicator colors.

It has also allowed too many tightly knit communities in our country to self-govern. This goes for the Muslims and Jews as well. That **** should not be allowed.

I will lose it if they allow Sharia Law in our country. That barbaric law is an affront to any civilized nation and to women...I shuddered
