Take heart, better days ahead

As a Cowboys fan I cannot believe we are sitting with Parsons/Lamb/Prescott all with uncertain futures in Dallas.

The one thing you can count on is that Jerry will find a way to screw it up. My bet is on him going all in long term on the worst possible option out of those three. I don't even know which one that is. Just that Jerry probably does and will make that option the face of the franchise.

I'm so excited about the Steelers. I have no idea what to expect, but the overall roster has improved, we finally have options at QB (both are infinitely better than Pickett) and a team that routinely gets 9-10 wins should be able to push that ever so slightly.

Well, here is the way I view it. Parsons and Lamb must be signed full stop. I have seen all the 88's since Drew Pearson. He was past his prime in the early '80s so I am not sure its fair to include him but Lamb is the most gifted of all of them. When you consider Parsons not signing him will haunt us forever as he will fly straight home to Philly and torment us for a decade. When it comes to Dak, is he the best QB in football? No. Is he the worst? Certainly not. I don't know how you seriously contend without him. Lance? Nah. So I say if you can't get at least 2 of 3 deals done, blow it up get under the cap and start over. Hire an energetic college coach who doesn't mind losing out of the gate to teach and grow all those draft picks. Guarantee said coach 5 years and put a competent GM in place to work with him and watch what happens. It worked before...

And yes, I know there isn't a chance of it happening because for Jerry time is getting short and it has only made his delusions of what a great GM he is far worse.

Of the three, Dak is the one you have to let walk (sorry @msstate7). He's solid, but not worth the top of the league money he's being paid. If there was a way to trade him for a higher draft pick/ multiple picks next year I'd do it. This season is a waste with McCarthy being retained anyway...best case is another early playoff exit.

Jerry Jones has done his dead level best to ruin both football teams I follow. He's the one who insisted on Arkansas bringing in Chad Morris over Mike Norvell, when the latter had agreed to accept the job under the same contract terms. Razorback football hasn't recovered from that misstep and likely never will.

Once a player from state turns pro, I only like them if they're on my team. I wouldn't pay dak what it would take

I feel bad for Dak. He's good enough to win a Super Bowl under the right scenario. That will never happen under Mike McCarthy, and would have never happened under Jason Garrett regardless of personnel surrounding them.

Unless the Cowboys plan to hire a competent coach there is no point in paying Dak what it would take to keep him.
