Term limits

Is it time for us to seriously consider term limits? What we have seen from Biden and now McConnell freezing up at the podium I think we need to put the dinosaurs out to pasture.

That’s fine but it doesn’t mean you are fit for government office

I’d be and countless other high performing older adults would be as well.

McConnell is evil but he was more than competent until he recent fall.

Would be fun if the most powerful people in our lives weren't older than the life expectancy

There are 30 year olds I wouldn’t trust with elementary school work while thee are 80 year olds that are sharper than anyone on this forum.

It's true that the up and coming age group is probably worse.

The communists have executed brilliantly. we are sandwiched

Term limits and age limits aren’t necessary. Just common sense from the voting masses not to elect people that require the entire CVS storehouse to function.

While I agree with your sentiment, if you're gonna have limits for executive positions (President, Governor, Mayor, etc) then you should kind of have it across the board.

IMO
6 consecutive Terms for a House member (12 years)
2 consecutive Terms for a Senate member (12 years).

I like the idea though I do understand why a congress term limit would differ. You do want the people in charge of passing laws to be held accountable for the effects of that legislation. If someone knows they’ll only be around a couple years (or in their final term) that accountability element is gone. Though the French had a good way to circumvent that with the National Assembly during the French Revolution, so maybe the guillotine is a tidy solution to that problem.

Constitutional Amendment.

All federal elections happen every 4 years. Regardless of President/House/Senate.

Minimum age for all positions 30, maximum age for all positions 65. You can be in office after 65 if you were elected before.

Term limits, 2 terms for WH, 3 for Congress. Supreme Court 20 years.

I rank mandatory retirement ( across the board) at 65 as as magic a number as the 8 hour work day, 5 day work week week, 90 ft. between bases and 60'6" rubber to plate.

For every exception there are thousands of examples to support

Other wise term limits are written into the law. Presidents 4 years, Senators 6 and congress people 2.
And each state and municipality it's own
Don't elect idiots

For an extreme example,.
As much as I loath the public persona and politics of MTG she was elected by her district and her
district has the option to term limit her in 2024

65? 65 isn’t old.

65 hits different depending on the person.

Bernie is 81 and has all his **** together. Same age as Mitch. It's easier to set a limit younger and assume most people will be mentally capable then set it later and see senile people.
