Jim Powell announced on twitter today that he is not returning to the Braves radio this season. Sounds like it wasn't his choice. I hate this because he was by far my favorite announcer (modern day) for us.

I have liked Jim since I first heard him, and I will miss him.

That said, we have the best young voice in baseball radio with Ben Ingram. I was really pulling for Ben to get the TV gig but he wanted no part of that mess. Turns out he was right.

Interesting that he didn't mention Ingram.

I wonder if the network and Ingram pushed him out. Ingram was only pre/post-game stuff and occasional fill-in for Jim for a long time. He probably wanted the gig full-time.

Off topic, but this was posted on Twitter from someone in the Caray family. He was visiting Skips grave the other day and there was a baseball there signed by Joe Simpson. On the other side of the ball you can also make out the name Chadwick, which is Jonathan Chadwick who is on the broadcast team. I wonder if the whole radio booth paid him a visit.

Ask anyone in the comms department affiliated with the Braves and they’ll tell you that Jim is a bit of a prick and he kind of did it to himself.
