The Walking Dead

Curious if anyone watches the spin-off? I watched the first two seasons and wasn't impressed, but think I might get back into it just because of the Morgan storyline.

Not to spoil anything, but I’ve enjoyed the direction they’ve taken the show since Rick left

I gave up on the show after last season. The Rick-Negan thing just was too exhausting.

I ended up binging the first half of this season over Thanksgiving and I was shocked at how great it was. Since Kang took over for Gimple the pacing has been much better as well as the writing. The time jump has worked really well and the whisperers have brought horror back to the show. I tell anyone who gave up on the show to give this season a chance. This has been one of the best seasons of the show ever.

Nothing can be as good as the farm season
 
What a season it's been. This is back to being one of the best shows on TV. Quality has been better than it's peak IMO.

I'll have to check it out. I left the show around the same time you did for the same reason.

I checked out the season before. It became "The Sleepwalking Dead" to me. They started going the George R.R. Martin route and killing off popular characters just to kill them off. Made it really difficult to have a cohesive plot with any character development.

If you're referring to Glenn, his death was in the comics the exact same way, so they stayed true to that aspect.

As for Carl, I think he just outgrew the role physically.

But yes, the All Out War between Saviors and Alexandria/Hilltop/Kingdom became a huge chore to get through. On top fo that, the Rick-Negan dynamic got old and Negan just became a running gag/walking meme more than anything.

Glad that in this season, Prison Cell Negan is much much much improved.

And with Rick
, now that he's not in the show anymore, the show doens't have to center everything around him, thus it's become way less predictable in a good way.
 
Not exactly the thrilling finale I expected but still intrigued by what’s next for the show.

I had given up on the spinoff series but with my renewed interest in the main series, I think I’ll catch up on the spinoff before the next season begins.
