Tigers Game 3

I swear Ranger Suarez is the most mediocre pitcher I've ever seen. I see teams tee off on him constantly, and somehow he continually escapes unscathed. Reminds me of how lucky JJ used to get with guys on base.

That luck is gonna run out eventually. And when he does, he's gonna get blown up.

In classic 2023 form we struggle vs the mediocre pitcher and pound the Cy Young caliber starter. Only 7 games back of the Phillies now. Was 10 games 10 days ago. Making up ground quick.

Just popping in to note that Arcia is dead last among qualifying players in xwOBA. He is the worst hitting regular in baseball.

The problem is SS is currently our 3rd biggest problem after LF and RF. Ideally we get an everyday OF at the deadline and give Nacho a call.

I think we will see Nachi by August. I don't think long term he is a full time SS but right now is probably the best he will ever be in terms of range. I think we might see Arcia used as a late game defensive replacement when we have a lead. Nacho is described as having 80 grade plate discipline by fangraphs so I find it hard to believe he couldnt put up a respectable OBP.

I hate the Phillies as much as anyone, but Rangers’ underlying peripherals are really strong. He’s not this dominant, but he’s very very good: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/ranger-suarez-624133?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
