Trade Flowers?

Where's My Cup of Coffee?
Anybody think we flip Flowers this year?

Honestly I think it makes quite a bit of sense and I know that catcher is a sore spot for us.... .but.....

- Flowers is hitting at career-high levels

- He's 31 and signed for cheap with a bargain team-option next year -- in other words -- he's not especially vital for a rebuilding team that probably isn't going to be ready next season, but his contract would be pretty valuable to a contending team

Looking at guys like Dickey/Garcia/Colon who haven't performed well, maybe its Flowers that brings back the best return?

This season should be all about positioning us for the future, especially now that FF is down. At some point get Sims/Newcomb up into the rotation, find the best deals you can for Colon, Garcia, Phillips, Garcia.... listen closely on Markakis, Viz, Flowers, Kemp...... if possible get some MLB looks at second-tier guys like Peterson, Akeel Morris, Cabrera just to see if anything is there, and lose a bunch of games to pull a top-3 pick next year.

I like what Coppy has done with a lot of his 'secondary' trades, trading people that don't seem to have a lot of value for players in other organizations that have fallen out of favor but have a standout tool or upside.

Guys like Demerritte, Seymour, Alex Jackson, Luke Jackson, Akeel Morris..... I could see some of deals that bring in a few players like that.

Flowers is actually a good player at a position we have nothing. I don't see the need to trade him unless we got a great surplus value deal.
