Trevor Bauer’s comments on the Braves’ offense

He should have pitched better and we wouldn’t have got his pitch count up and he’d have lasted longer. I wouldn’t expect a clown like him (who won’t even listen to his own manager) to understand that though!

Is he really complaining that Braves offense is good and didn't swing at everything?

Does he not know how hitting works? Working the count = good. You see more pitches which means a higher chance a pitcher makes a mistake, plus it wears the pitcher down. Literally the list of hitters who see the most pitches per at bat is pretty much just a list of the best hitters in the league. What a tool.

man he really is pouting that the braves took pitches and tried to put the ball in play.
also still struck 10 guys out.
this was weird.

Is this guy essentially upset that our hitters tried to beat him? That we didn't just let him have a 27 K perfect game on 81 pitches?

I can understand both sides. Bauer pitched a good game and it’s a totally reasonable strategy for the Braves to get Bauer out of the game and attack the bullpen.

Actually one of the more absurd rants I've ever come across. He literally is complaining that the Braves did their job. He may want to look at our OPS across the roster if he has doubts about our intent to hit the ball hard - that said we gave a good upfront showing of this last night. After seeing those comments, makes it that much sweeter that we came back and then dominated last night.

Before this article I didn't have a least favorite player in baseball but now I do - hearing this guy speak you can just tell he is a Grade A prick and just doesn't come across as a good person. Freddie response not only made Bauer look like an idiot but he did it while keeping it classy.

He said it was a good approach or something like that. Later said they won the game so he can’t say much. You fanboys are so quick to try and hate someone when there really isn’t a reason to. Bauer is better than anything the Braves have trotted out in years.

It’s not fanboy haterade—Bauer’s “critique” here is simply inane. He’s essentially complaining that the Braves effectively deployed a selective strategy to combat Bauer’s own effectiveness, and it worked. Maybe instead of grousing about batters not swinging at non-strikes, he could start working more effectively in the zone, so a selective, wait-him-out strategy is no longer effective against him.

Is it a complaint about the Braves or is it his way of blaming the bullpen?

not surprising that someone who is always pouting and whining can't recognize when someone else is doing it. keep it up chief.

i think it's pretty clear he was pouting.
he even mentions two prior games, one in AAA and one in college or something, to point out similar approaches against him. that, to me, was a clear shot. like, oh i've seen lower level teams do this (do what exactly, i don't know).

He should take it as a complement. When you have a pitcher who was pitching like Bauer, sometimes the only chance you have is to try to run up the pitch count and get him out of the game. Our approach was literally an attempt to not have to face him anymore.

Maybe he was trying to say we had a good approach but if that's it, it was really inartfully said. I'm not too bent out of shape about it. A kid in his 20's complaining that the world isn't bending to his whim isn't exactly front page news. And Bauer is a very good pitcher. I'd have loved to have gotten him in the offseason. Would have been a huge upgrade.
