Soft tossing lefty, if I’m remembering correctly. Think he’s a little old for the level, too.

Undrafted college senior signing out of a small college in North Carolina. I believe I read he throws in the low-90s. He will probably be in Mississippi sometime soon.

Nice to see Greyson Jenista have a good game. He's suffered with a 28% K rate so far this year, but has real power.

no thread for today (Wed.), but Riley is having himself another big game.
if he keeps that k rate where it is for another extended period he starts to look awfully legit.

This. I almost wonder if chipper worked with him. He is K’ing less and hitting oppo more.

This is always a funny one to me. While succeeding at a level when someone is significantly younger than the competition certainly should be noted, it always seems a little "off" to dock someone for being slightly older as if that's the ONLY reason he's succeeding. Not a big deal at all, but I prefer to look at the player's level rather than his age - definitely in cases like this.

Deal has never competed against players as good as the ones he's seeing right now, so chalking it up to the fact that he's a year or two older seems a little unfair. The extra experience is bound to help, but it's not like he's an SEC or ACC-level player pitching to middle school kids. The chances he ever makes it are definitely slim, but if all it took was having age on your opponent quite a few of us would suddenly be awesome!

If you're actually suggesting age doesn't matter when considering prospects, I'm not really sure where to even start this conversation.

And now has over 100 PA with a BABIP just over .300 and a K-rate just over 20%. Uh oh!

The K% is the really encouraging. If we hit with him (along with Swanson turning the corner) we will have had a very good run of our top hitting prospects actually making it. Very similar to what happened in the early 90s.
