i thought this was known already for the last year or so?

or that it at least was going through Turkey
 
Turkey is playing both sides and hoping NATO would back them if Russia behaves badly.

They have a rude awakening coming if that is the case.

The raison d'etre of NATO is to contain Russian (USSR at the time) aggression / anger /retaliation / over reaction
Key word in NATO is treaty
