I think that's a reasonable insight, but I think this is the equivalent of the AAA All-Star game. There may be some nice performances that promote a promising future that is years away. I think Pence was put on the ticket for one reason and one reason alone and that is his status as a cultural warrior. He has firmed up the cultural conservative bloc for Trump. Pence could rape a nun on the cathedral steps and his following would say the nun was asking for it.
