WalMart, Target, TJ Maxx raise min wage

Should be $15.

edit... make it $20

edit... why not $30?

Well... they weren't mandated to do so by Fed. It was of their own recourse (and probably a lot of public pressure) to do so, but they weren't told do it. So I guess you could say they were "free" to do so?

Agreed. But their still being greedy bastards because they could probably afford a few more pennies out of their profits

to $9 for new hires, and $10 for hires with 6 months of training ( at WM) ...

Still the devil?

Walmart and Target are both drastically downsizing due to horrible sales. Raising wages will do nothing but hurt those companies and make more of thier employees unemployed .

Actually there's something to be said about paying tyo keep talent. Hobby Lobby has their 3 for 1. Of if you keep and pay employees well, they will do the work of 3 mediocre aka 9-10 dollar an hour employees.

I begrudgingly admit to working at Walmart. This wage increase is complete trash. It benefits new hires and people who are "capped" meaning they are maxed out pay wise in their current position. I would venture to say at the store I work at 75 percent of the employees fall in the middle category and are getting nothing in return. If the job market weren't so terrible I would be out the door.

Well I think the issue if you would is that they're having issues attracting new talent. Part time jobs aren't supposed to last 10 years. According to a manager training I took, they except 6 month turn around from part time employees. So attracting better people for that time should improve customer experience.

glad to see the people protesting started to make a difference

yes, they are still the devil. **** those america harming/not caring about the interest of the country companies

Yet if you ran a public company you'd pay people as less as you could to make money.

no i wouldn't

i would want to pay people a wage that wants them to be glad to come to work and do a good job to keep making it thrive

but thanks for trying to state what my thoughts are on what i would do etc

Walmart is moving more resources to the neighborhood grocery product.

Nice world you live in where people would be glad to go to work at Wal-Mart.

If your earnings were sliding would you rather have market level wages or let employees go?

You are a veteran, you should not be working at Walmart.

Do you not have a vets facility in your area to point to better paying positions that will use your experience? Unless you were infantry and train to kill, police departments are always looking for vets without PTDS.

Vets are giving incredible resources once they are out of the military. Its a shame many of them do not utilize them.
