I don't know... how about you wait until Spring Training is closer than 4 months away before flipping out and assuming the worst.

    couple of minutes works.

Jason do you want to sign long term?

Yes. I'm looking for 200 million over 8 years.

we can't afford that....will you take a team friendly deal if we buy out these arb years.

Not much, I'm this close to free agency I might as well see the market. I think my overall game will improve.

END of conversation. Time 2 minutes. ATL has no shot/interest in 20+ million.

    Again, I guess he's a liar.
Ok, a couple of minute discussion could be:

Wren: Jason what are you looking for
    Jason: 25M per season
Wren: Crap we are going to have to trade him

So there could have been plenty learned from a few minutes. Sounds like an easy way to cop out that Heyward asked fora crazy amount of money the Braves weren't willing to pay.

The most intriguing part is seeing who the Cardinals draft after we resign Heyward and give them our draft pick.
All you need is Hart and Cox.

Who in their right mind is going to take BJ Upton? Seriously? We wouldh ave to trade 2-3 top prospects for teams to take that money.

b/c they have no value....nobody is taking BJ. We'd have to package minor + BJ and take back and Edwin Jackson type.

According to Heyward they discussed it for like 10 minutes. And Heyward brought the 2 year deal to the table to avoid arbitration for two years. I'd choose to believe the side who is actually stating what happened instead of 'assuming' and 'not knowing' which is what Hart has said.

The other is about to become a FA and wants as many suitors as possible. A good image is a great asset.

I'll wager we won't wver know what really happened.

Yup, so while it sounds like Heyward was shafted he may have clearly laid the groundwork that a deal could not be reached.

Yeah true. People never start high in negotiations and then come down. And if someone says something one year, it means they feel the same the next year.

Why would someone like Heyward (a guy that is going to make a fortune in FA) sign an extension one year after declining one? How does that make sense for him at all?

Because journalist never make stuff up...ever. Ever. Maybe you'd have a point if some kind of source was attached to it. Sounds like just another assumption.

Why are people assuming Heyward is lying when Hart has basically iterated the same thing with his (albeitedly vague) comments?

Because he didn't bust out offensively the way he had hoped and wanted to stay (as he stated)?

Not a crazy amount. It's the market. I don't think he's worth it but like you said half of baseball may.

FF decided to take less. Maybe he felt his low HR total and/or defensive metrics would hurt him on the open market. But he took less.

Heyward earned the right to test FA. No hard feelings.

If you want to go total Money ball this could be a great deal. Maximize your output per dollar spend on JHey and then flip him for Shelby Miller who could have a very good return on production vs salary.

I still think this package is less. I thought this is the type of deal we'd get for Gattis......but maybe I'm just crazy and don't know the market.
