i like how the Sox looked at the choice between the Nats' offer and the Red Sox offer and basically said "why not both?"
Holy crap... the White Sox system just went from a laughing stock to one of the highest ceiling farms in the league. Still not super deep yet, but the talent is ridiculous.
FWIW, Eaton is really really good. Basically a better version of Inciarte.
Nats offered Lopez, Giolito, Dunning, and Robles for Sale.
Moncada was probably the tipping point to Boston.
Robles, Giolito, and Lopez would be tough to turn down for Sale though. Moncada better be all that.

It still baffles me that they had this talent and didn't win 80 games. Think when the Cubs have some of their depth to start pushing the big club. They will just rinse and reload. Hopefully our pitching will develop and we can do the same. Our depth would sustain us for years to come.
--Maybe the ChiSoxs are going all in for Beer next year too. Trade talent.. load up system.. tank... get generational player.. profit
Im not sure what Heyward is laughing at.
The most overated concept on this board is depth with prospects. If you give me 5 A prospects and a bunch of C prospects or 10 B prospects, you go with the high end prospects all day every day. The White Sox farm system is set up for the future. They possibly have 3 starters and an extremely good middle infielder. Who cares how many fringe utility and number 6 starters they have?

Eatons value was insance though. He's signed for 5 years at 38 million. As a free agency, what does he get? Well over 150 million for 6-7 years?
This gives them 2-4 win improvement over Danny Espinosa and frees up a ton of money for free agency. It is a steep price to pay, but seems to be a solid deal from both sides.

Unless there's a surprise entrant, slugger Edwin Encarnacion's finalists appear to be the #BlueJays and #Indians.
I seriously don't understand why everyone wants to trade off Albies! IMO he's a better SS than Swanson and he's going to hit and hit well. Most people are concerned with his size but that's soooo not an issue! I see him as a .300+/.380-.400/.400-.450 player in his prime with 30+ SB per season. I don't want to trade him, Acuna, Allard or Maitan PERIOD!
