dansby will easily have seasons where he's average or above with the bat.

did simmons show signs of improving his power before he did? it happens all the time. especially when a player is just 24.
swanson has already improved his power from last year a good bit. he's also improved as a hitter by a huge amount from last year. so yes, we've already seen improvement. i'd like to point out that he's 24 years old.

the impatience of fans is always funny to me. if the player isn't a stud out the gate so many draw silly conclusions.

I don't know why you're getting so offended here... I'm simply looking at the data and his batting profile and he will never be a good hitter striking out 25% of the time. Last I checked his k rate is worse this year than last, and hes also being protected by batting 8th which inflates his walk rate.
I very much want him to be a stud. I just don't see it happening
again, i think it's silly to draw conclusions about a player who's 24 years old and in his 2nd full season in the majors who has already shown overall improvement, even if it's not in the k and bb areas. saying "i don't see it happening" based on what we know is premature.

Sturg is right in that Swanson's K% is what will determine the type of hitter he will be. It was discussed when he first came up and it still holds true today. The fact that he's regressed there isn't the best of signs.

right. but those aren't things that will continue to improve to get him to be a league avg or better hitter. for hitters that profile like Swanson it's going to be the K%. And as long as pitchers know how to throw a slider it's going to be an issue with him. some players have obvious holes in their swing that aren't really identified until they face major league pitching. this will be a constant concern with him.
