Oh, ****. I figured it out. He broke Acuna's necklace last game and Acuna demanding he pay him back immediately. This was the only way he could do it.

Can you imagine what the initial offer was on this deal.
7 years 25 million?
This has really gotten folks up in arms on the twitter verse especially NL east fans.
Gotta love it for us!!
I mean, is there any other duo in baseball you'd rather have?
And we get them cheaply for 10 years??
Are we dreaming??
You may be right, and that was an ignorant comment on my part.
However, I still think these guys were taken advantage of by the Braves and their agents.

3:20 Ozzie Albies extension...wut?
Jeffrey Todd
3:21 It is absolutely ridiculous. The team should almost be embarrassed by using its leverage to this extent. The option year prices are ludicrous.
3:22 This isn't a flier on a guy who isn't fully established. He is super young and already has a 3-4 WAR season under his belt, with the defensive and baserunning ability to be a solid regular even if he never taps fully into his obvious upside as a hitter.
3:23 I don't know the circumstances underlying it - maybe Albies ordered his agent to do a deal and the team wasn't interested except at their insistence - but it is hard to fathom.
That fangraphs article was interesting. zips thinks that of all mlb player albies and acuna will be 4th and 5th in remaining career WAR. And we have them for their entire primes at crazy low prices.
It’s the option years that make it weird for me.
I get guaranteed money for the control years being worth a big discount. Those option years should be like 10 and 15 million for Ozzie. Acuna should have options of 15, 20, 25, 30.
The only thing I get if I’m Ozzie is that my game is very speed based. If I tear an ack or get chronic hamstrings I’m in trouble.
