Fredi pitching vs us? Must really want to see what this lineup "has got" right before opening day. If we can compete against Fredi we can beat anyone, if not, well just tip your hat and go get them tomorrow.

Dan Winkler quietly having a great Spring. 10 IP with 16Ks and 0 BBs. FB was up to 94 MPH tonight. If he's not a lock, then I don't know what it's gonna take.

came here to say, he made that inning look easy.. 3 Ks and I don't think any one made good contact on any pitch..

I'm tellin' you Matt. That was the best inning of pitching I've seen from a Brave all Spring. Can locate multiple pitches and real tough to pick up. It took some patience, but we may have found something with Winkler.

when we stole him from the Rocks last year in the Rule 5.. I read several message boards of fans reactions and they were PISSED!!!.. he was a starter and dominated the year prior to getting injured.. much like he is doing this spring. I wonder after this year if he wants to go back to starting..

One step at a time, but I've been thinking the same thing.

It seems that Carlos Torres' goose is cooked at this point. If no one is DL'd, I'd guess this is the 8 man pen to start out:

    Viz
    Grilli
    JJ
    EOF
    Ogando
    Yet to be acquired LOOGY
    Winkler
    Ramirez

so lets say Viz and Grilli have close to the season they had last year. we would have a very solid 8/9 combo.. then the 7th with Winkler and sprinkle in EOF and LOOGY in 6/7/8 when needed and we all of a sudden have a very good closing bullpen.. I don't have much faith in JJ and Ramirez right now.. and I think Ogando will be pretty good but not pressed into high leverage situation for a bit.. but that pen is not too bad IMO..

There was a report circulating that JJ could start the year on the DL since his velocity is down. I would take a leap of faith on Kinman as the other lefty (heck, he has a higher upside than Marksberry) and I'd be open to taking Gant as an extra swing guy. We can't have all of these guys' clocks to start at the same time!

And Viz is my closer. Period. Only scenario would be to avoid having him work three straight days. If that means trading Grilli, bring it on.

MLB.com Gameday has been totally messed up today with regard to the Braves game. FIrst it was 5-3, then 4-4, then 4-3. Now it doesn't even show up. Now 4-4 again.

Same thing I currently have on my board FWIW.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

I was actually able to watch this game today. Wisler looked okay, not great. He did have to face the entire O's starting lineup, so in that respect he was fine. He has to work on keeping the ball in the ballpark. The offense was pesky. There is no power in the lineup so the offense success will be heavily based on hitting with runners on. Winkler looked good. He has an interesting delivery - not exactly side arm but kind of. I could not tell what pitches he was throwing but he changed speeds really well.
