Looks like the Dodgers trade for Glasnow is complete but contingent on a long term deal getting done. Which makes me think Glasnow is willing. This is great news imo. Hopefully it's for 30+ million a year. That will be 500k per inning pitched based on his track record of the last 5 years. I can't believe a SP who has a career high of 120 IP is this desirable.

The Dodgers can afford to take this gamble, though, because they're the Dodgers. They'll also likely get Yamamoto, still could get Cease, and likely will sign Fried next offseason.

Eight years in the league. Over 100 innings twice, averaged 72 innings a year for the last seven. ERA a touch under 4.00. FIP is good over the 300 innings he's managed over the last FIVE years. HR rate over 1.0/9. 30 years old.

Clearly Los Doyers are smarter than me, a common fan, and have access to data I could never hope to understand.

You can't spell Glasnow without glass.

I hope they sign this dude for five years at $30M per. Of course, it'll be deferred, so it won't ruin them until the current ownership group is long gone.

Sucked that charlie got hurt right at the end. Really was nice to have strider vs pen game 2 times though... damn, 0-2 also

And you think one of the only three reliable SPs you have are unlikely to not be fully healthy? I would say it’s pretty likely that a 40+ year old Morton isn’t fully healthy come playoff time. Which puts you basically back in the same position as this past season.

And its gonna cost even more at the deadline. Hopefully AA can find the right deal to get real help and not some guy that wont help in October.

We lost strider vs pen game twice. We lost bc we couldn't hit

And no one has made the anti argument of that. But entering a pivotal game with Elder or strung together hopefuls from the AAAA bus is not what the aim should be. That's what most are saying. If AA strikes out in his quest for another SP, we could all do the press conference afterwards.

Elder should never start a playoff game unless the team is up 3-0 or thereabouts and trying to line up starters for the next series.

I wouldn't particularly want Lugo starting one either. He's probably marginally better than Elder, but not enough that I want him starting in a clutch situation.

I've been saying since they signed Lopez and said the plan was to extend him to start that they were done. Ownership is fckn cheap...Just wait until Ronald comes up for his extension...if he makes it that far of course

They just aren't going to pay pitchers or above market value for a super stat position player.

They shouldn't.

I'm in no way implying doom and gloom but Lopez as a starter even is sus. He's started 18 games in 4 years. Perhaps he's better. Perhaps AJSS is truly ready. Perhaps....perhaps. In any trade, one of the top two prospects will be asked for: AJSS and Waldrep. Could it be that the Braves haven't made a move because they don't want to let those two go? The prices are high if the pitcher they want is controllable. And it'll probably hurt to get who we all want. It's a conundrum.

I haven't seen any posts lamenting the Braves regular season performance. A deep playoff run and another WS harkens....AA hears the call...he will answer.😂😂

Well AA upgraded the pen, and if we basing needing a starter on the lost playoff series, relief pitching proved to be just as good as starting pitching.

I'd love to get a starter, but getting it just bc of a playoff series seems weird to me. Braves won it with relief in 2021

The week long layoff in the playoffs killed our bats. Everyone was rusty and when they started slow they started pressing. It was predictable as Manfred doing the wrong thing for baseball is.

You sound like a chiefs fan/player right now. It’s time to stop blaming anyone other than the hitters themselves.

So use openers instead? That's crazy enough to work.

The logic is baffling….

The pitching needs upgrading and the hitting failed for 4 games. These are not mutually exclusive facts that in no way disprove each other.

I'm also not sure where we are to find significant improvement for the offense. SS could be boosted but not by a ton. Same with left. We're so stacked on offense that moving the needle there will be difficult.

There's much more room for improvement with the pitching. And improving the staff would take some pressure off the lineup. It's not difficult.
