unlike southern states walmart has no long history of suppressing black people...they are entitled to the presumption of acting on a rational basis
if the argument is that black people can't afford to get IDs, then why is Walmart being excused for denying black people life saving groceries?
eh...walmart just cares about green...sadly many states have a history with other colors and deserve heightened scrutiny of their voting laws...georgia for example considered changes to sunday voting that would have had a differential impact on black voters...fortunately they took that out in part because of vigilance and heightened scrutiny by people familiar with their history if suppressing the black vote
it seems to me that the "ID is racist" argument is only applied to voting, and literally nothing else.
curious
Indeed.
I believe we were also told they couldn’t conduct such an activity. As in we’re not able to air time off or travel to a ID procurement place like a DMV.

Rights have nothing to do with whether something is racist or not.Voting is a right. Shopping at Walmart is not. The issue is more the left doesn't trust that the right won't use this as an artificial barrier to voting they can manipulate to suppress votes in areas that don't vote for them. Election coming up, time to close the DMV on black areas for "remodeling". Or we need to close DMVs on black areas to save money. Or we need to restrict it's hours to only being open from noon-2. Or other shenanigans.
That's great... but if requireling an ID to vote is racist, why is requiring an ID to pick up groceries not racist? There is a long history of using barriers to voting to prevent black people from voting. Its racist if it's meant to suppress voters of a single race from voting. Also, Walmart is not the only place you can buy food.
Require an ID for something can be racist.
It also can not be racist.
Y'all could do with a little understanding of logic.

Only if you believe you became a mind reader and knew the rationale of the person/people asking.
Can you share the secret to learning this avility?
I give example.
I tell a black man he can sit in a chair.
Not racist if I'm holding that chair for a friend.
Racist if I don't think black people should be allowed to sit there.
Is having a government funded whites not allowed Christmas party racist?
How about vaccine passports? Like I need one to travel and get food, but not to vote. Hows that work?
But how would you know those conditions existed?
depends on your approach to epistemology
It can and can not be.
A school holds a reception for a particular group of students. Could be racist. Could be not racist.
Public service announcement: those kinds of situational distinctions are common.
