Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

An Ohio woman has been charged with a felony after delivering a stillborn baby even after the medical examiner confirmed the fetus was deceased when it was delivered. She faces two years in prison.

You forgot the part where she delivered a 22 week old stillborn baby, which looks like a little baby around 10" long, and flushed it down the toilet.

You probably should have included that part.

57 & cerno & thethe all fall for and push the leftist narrative

Either DeSantis saves this young boy's life... or DeSantis rids Florida of another sociopath

It’s dishonest at best.

And she wasn’t charged or jailed for the abortion.

But he knew that

The rest of Ohtani's $68 million salary will be deferred for a decade, and the Dodgers will owe it to him in annual installments starting in 2034. By the time Ohtani collects the last of those payments in 2043, he'll be 49 years old (and almost certainly well into retirement).

Because he'll be playing most of his games in high-tax California, taking most of his pay via what's effectively a fixed annuity gives Ohtani the possibility of avoiding some massive tax payments. "By the time he starts receiving the $68 million payments, he may be able to avoid state income taxes by living someplace like Florida without an income tax, or by moving back to Japan," The Wall Street Journal reported this week.

...

By taking most of his pay in what's effectively a fixed annuity rather than getting it all in his paycheck, Ohtani could save as much as $98 million in state taxes if he relocates out of California by 2034, according to an analysis by the California Center for Jobs & the Economy.

That report also highlights how dependent California is on high-earning individuals—you know, the same people the state seems determined to keep driving away by hiking taxes. According to the analysis, "the amount of income tax Ohtani could save annually by changing his residence in 2033 is equivalent to the total tax liability of the bottom 1.78 million tax filers in 2021."

Love to see it!

Such a shame places like Cali and NY are ran by idiots. There are so many surrounding areas to the big cities that are amazing places to live.

NY looks like it can be salvaged. I don’t know what can be done with Cali

Just a year or two ago, the Republican Party of Florida had an iron grip over the state. Governor Ron DeSantis ruled the state like a petty dictator, and the state party was in lock step with him. But a lot’s happened since then.

First DeSantis bit off way more than he could chew. He declared war against Disney, which backfired and weakened him. And his 2024 campaign for President has been such a punchline, it’s severely weakened him, even within Florida. Then Florida Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler famously got caught up in a sex and alleged assault scandal involving him, his wife, and another woman.

The rest of the Florida Republican Party has been looking for a back door to shove Ziegler out of, for fear that his scandals could weaken the party statewide. But Ziegler keeps refusing to resign. In a sign of how weak DeSantis has become, even he hasn’t been able to push Ziegler into resigning.

Now the Florida Republican Party has voted to strip Ziegler of his authority, without actually ousting him. This is the closest they can come, for now at least, to getting rid of their own state party leader.

So now the Florida Republican Party has a state party chair who’s under investigation for alleged rape but is still in office, and a Governor who’s become a national punchline. Republicans still have a voter demographic advantage in Florida heading into 2024 – but at this point they seem to be doing everything possible to squander it.

I'm not one to take polls at this stage at all seriously

But, single digits running behind Niki Haley
What is her name anyway ?

Yeah, would have told you 2 years ago what a waste of time, money and interest a DeSantis campaign would be.

Lame duck governor ignored his state .
A nd for what ?

Looks to me like 2023 was one of the most impactful legislative agendas passed I've ever seen.

Pretty good for a lame duck!

Did you see where they are gonna pursue the death penalty for a child rapist? I bet that really has you upset

Best part is he turned Florida into a red California...

So prosperity without the feces on the streets. You should be quite thankful for making your life so much better
