REAL FOOTBALL Thread

It looks as if that’s his role now after meddling back in football the last few years.

This hire stinks.

We let a better pure DC go to Jax, for a guy we’ve had here before and let go

I agree with this. McKay is a member of the old guard and Morris is exactly the kind of head coach one of the old guard would want.

At most I'd be okay with McKay as a kind of Terry McGuirk role. The man on the business side of things that doesn't meddle with the operations side at all. But no matter what he needs to be kept away from football operations. He's out of touch with modern football.

We have a president who's in charge of business. Have had for about a year in Beadles. Now he seems to be going to other blank ventures like Atlanta United.

I've softened on the Morris hire (still don't love it)... sounds like his years with the Rams really changed him... that's from people in the Atlanta and LA organizations. I have a hard time judging his head coaching record 13 years ago (I've changed immensely in the past 13 years) and especially his stint as an interim coach with very little talent around. If he brings Zac Robinson for OC as is rumored, I really like the potential. Also rumors that he may try to bring in Evero for DC... that would be a couple of great coordinator hires IMO if they can just get a QB.

I haven’t heard that DC tid bit

It was only some speculation from one of those national ESPN guys I think... saw it on twitter but can't remember which author... but yeah, no inside info just speculation based on their relationship (he was part of Morris' defensive staff in LA) and the fact that it doesn't look like he's going to get a HC job this go around and likely will not be back on the Panthers staff. Also, the Falcons' obviously really liked him since they interviewed him twice. I guess the latest rumor that I just head about is that Evero may actually fill Morris' role in LA.

Morris is going to interview Cortez Hankton for the OC job. Hankton has literally never called plays in his career. When he was at Georgia he was one of the least effective members of the staff.

One of the selling points of Morris was he was supposed to be able to get elite coordinator talent. Leading off with interviewing a college coach who doesn't call plays is ominous.

If he hires Hankton then Morris might be dooming himself. OC is his most important hire. If he bombs it then he's probably never going to recover.

Very skeptical Hankton is a real candidate... wonder if this is a way to get more info on Daniels and Nabers while also satisfyingly the Rooney Rule requirement for coordinators. Most of the tea leaves suggest it will be Zac Robinson.

I hope you're right but I don't know. Morris has been on the wrong end of Rooney Rule interviews so I really wonder if he'd do that to other guys. Also, you'd think there would be better candidates to interview than Hankton.

For sure. He may not pan out but Falcons have a history of uninspiring coord hires. Only good one was Shanny. Everything else was eh.

I'd rather take a shot at someone new and exciting. Glad we did.

For sure… there’s still risk there but exciting to have a young up and coming stud from the McVay tree. But I mean he’s no Dirk Koetter lol

Who do we got today boys?

The Lions keep it close for a half, maybe 3 quarters but the depth of the 49ers is too much. I hope not… I’d love to see the Lions make a Super Bowl. But the Niners pull away in the end I think. AFC… my gut says the Ravens win big but Mahomes just turns into a different guy when the season is on the line. Still gonna say the Ravens win comfortably.

Think its Ravens and Niners

Niners are going to be completely locked in and while the Lions are a solid squad they don't stack up with niners. People have overreacted to Purdy not being able to throw the ball yet in the rain.

Ravens are the better team in all facets of the game so I have to trust that and say they win despite the fact Mahomes may go down as GOAT.

Ravens Niners is the safe bet. I'm rooting for Ravens Lions. The team I want to win the most are the Lions I'm all about teams that haven't won yet getting their shot.

Any given Sunday and all that jazz but I feel lions about to run into a buzz saw.

Lions have had a great year and will have a say in the future but this has been building with the Niners for quite some time.
