ESPN+ is currently on the Hulu subscription that combines Hulu/Disney/ESPN+ for around $20/month. My guess is the proposed app would pull ESPN+ out of that package and combine it with the proposed standalone app. My problem with Comcast is that I have to take the whole smorgasbord of sports programming and can't excise the parts of the package I don't want. So I get MLB network/NFL network/NBA network/CBS sports network/ESPN/A bunch of conferences I do not care about in the least as part of the premium package. Three-quarters of it I don't want at all.
 
Everyone thought that streaming a la carte was the future. People are beginning to realize that Disney/ESPN was the biggest driver of high cable costs, and they aren't about to give that up. Want every channel anyone cares about except the live sports stuff? You can get that from numerous providers for $10-$40 per month. Insert any live sports access and your price goes through the roof.

I find it more rewarding to spend time with my family or in the workshop. I can buy a very little bit of hobby wood or stain with the money I save.

Not just Disney/ABC. Sports programming in general is just expensive. Mostly because they consistently have the highest ratings throughout the year.

Also the modern sports broadcast is stupid expensive to produce. They're like million bucks a game to produce requiring amazing cameras, the best directors, etc.

ANd you can tell the difference. Watch something that doesn't get good broadcasting (CONCACAF away matches) and watch something with amazing broadcasting (Premier League) and you'll see the quality difference by a ton.

Watch any random MLB game on mlb.tv then watch an random AA game on milb.tv. It's not just the quality of play and players that drops off noticeably.

College baseball games can be just as bad to watch, and they are generally broadcasted by ESPN.

Taking those broadcasts to flavortown would help the quality.
