I cheer on the US using 1980s weapon stockpiles to decimate a military that represents the only excuse for spending billions per year to base American troops in Europe.

Replacing those stockpiles provides an excuse to upgrade an anemic munitions industry. Upgrading the munitions industry is necessary to provide deterrence over the next few decades of the new Cold War we have just entered.

What's up with you taking Putin's side of things so firmly? Is there supposed to be some justification for his invasion of Ukraine that I've missed?

Are you unfamiliar with what took place in 2014 in Ukraine?

Lots of stuff takes place here. That doesn't mean that Mexico should invade us.

Well - I suggest you understand what happened which was the US overthrowing a democratically held election because they were pro-russia and not pro-EU.

That was the genesis of all we are seeing today and the chickens are coming home to roost as we are losing a war and destroying our standing internationally via the power of the dollar and Russia/China being in bed together more than they have ever.

I have a weird aversion to hostile invasion and occupation of other countries. I guess it's just one of my bugaboos.

But you support color revolutions without reprucussions apparently as well as bombing of ethnic russians in eastern ukraine that didn't like what happened.

Very blind American sentiment stemming from Neo Con days.

Don't you believe that our election was overthrown by the same people? Does that justify Russia, China, or Mexico invading us?

Bombing of ethnic Russians? Holy crap that's what this about? Even the Russian citizens didn't believe that story.

Why would another country do that? We should be doing that because we are the ones that are screwed.

Eastern Urkaine is predonominatly ethnic russian. So from their perspective they probably believe its justified.

But as a vestige of the Republican neo-con days I understand you think no consequences are in order for what we did (which apparently you have no clue about).

Are you saying that thbe people of the DOnbas (ethnic Russians) weren't bombed and slaughtered by Western Urkainian forces backed by NATO and the US?

KGB agent Igor Girkin couldn't have written it better himself.

Dude he literally is a KGB/FSB agent, and he literally led the resistance while literally flying a Russian flag above his headquarters and literally saying his goal was to cause a crisis to provide cover for a Russian invasion.

I'm not talking about the person you mentioned. Its your conflating that any talking point that isn't "PUTIN BAD" is a KGB talking point.

Yes, but you brought up the 2014 Donbas airstrikes, which were launched against the forces commanded by the person I mentioned.

So that makes it acceptable to kill eastern Ukrainians as a result? And those actions have no bearing on what we are seeing today?

Come on dude. yes, a Russian intelligence operative starting an armed rebellion in a strategically valuable area on the border of Russia and Ukraine justifies a military response. If your beef is with the US being involved at all then that's a reasonable conversation we can have, but don't act like Ukraine was the aggressor here, that's absurd.

A rebelliion against what? A democratically overthrown election? I guess we can just put our heads into the sand as to what happened because PUTIN BAD?
