2024 Field

Republicans who are asking why they keep losing elections are like

the guy who walks into the ER with a nail in his head,

asking why he has a headache.

A party led by a rapist that believes it can fix its problem with
women by attacking Taylor Swift,
with weird little creeps like Mike Johnson
as a public face in Congress, that has no serious policy,

that has decided to abandon decades of support
for freedom in Europe to back a genocidal dictator,

a party that is 85% white in a 59% white country,
a party that has decided higher education is a gateway
drug to Socialism,
that believes public health policy should be set by random
freaks on the internet and not doctors,
a party that is still fighting cultural wars of gender politics
the rest of America ended a decade ago,
a party that has replaced American optimism with anger
and fear of the future....

Is there really any question why this party is losing?

And the group that believes the news is still real the most?

College Educated White people

I'm wondering how we have 'abandoned' them.

College educated voters have shown to be the most indoctrinated and thus most susceptilbe to media lies.

I think things like believing the 'fine people hoax' and 'Russian Collusion Hoax' has done more to change their voting habits than any policy prescription.

Open to hearing your counter.

Honestly the part of the tweet that resonated the most with me was the “watered-down leftist economic ideas.”

I do think MAGA’s embrace of anti-intellectualism in general probably turns off a lot of college educated voters.

I’d just want to see a disaggregating of voting habits from college educated people by their majors. I bet the overall figures would show that the percentages are being driven by those with useless degrees. Problem is that the majority of college educated people now have those useless degrees. What’s driving these voters is nothing else but propaganda.

Seems pretty obvious - Republicans play by a different set of rules.

Democrats support any and all trash that can get elected.

Republicans want to jettison popular members to ensure their consultants aren't pushed out.

Continuing to apply purity tests on everyone candidate who doesn't perfectly fall in line behind Trump will lead to.continued losses

There is not enough of a majority for that to work

I agree we shouldn’t have that but the old guard style Republican doesn’t resonate anymore. I’m not trying to say RDS is that at all so don’t misconstrue.

We still need RINOs in areas where more conservative republicans can't win.

Conservative pollsters are concerned that republican candidates are running behind Trump in polling for 2024 because of these purity tests. This thought process of just voting for Trump and not voting the down ballot is stupid. We can't afford to cut our own throats like this.

There are some areas that can't win with a hard right candidate. And other areas where they go after good allies like Chip Roy and Thomas Massie simply bc they didn't endorse Trump.

The whole movement is devolving into a trump or nothing calculus

I sense a lot of resentment from MAGA towards the “laptop class” so it’s not a surprise at all that the “laptop class” doesn’t feel all to welcome in the MAGA tent.

There is no resentment - I am a happy member of the laptop class!

But the idea we can just discard a huge chunk of the population without ramifications is absurd to me.

The one thing people aren’t paying attention to is the fact that MAGA is alluring to a younger group of voters. More so than any Republican in decades. Kind of important when a huge chunk of your voting base dies every year.

GA Dems ran on this the week before Election Day.

Money for everyone but Americans.

The line about too much money was garbage.

Not interested in a party that runs on the dems platform

Republicans threw away GA by telling them to stay home during the runoff

I’d just refer you to what Dems were running for ads the week leading up to Election Day. That’s a tell as to what they thought would drive the turnout.

The same party has plenty of money for Ukraine though. So where would you rather have the money go?

I understand... but if we become the party of free money for x cause then we aren't making progress

A compelling message Trump could have made is Biden wants to inflate our money, keep people locked down, and discourage work. I want us to move out of this pandemic and MAGA.

Instead he went with my money printer is bigger than your money printer

You may be principled but the argument from people like McConnell wasn’t from a position of principle. It was from a position to damage Trump and MAGA.

One for the former “leaders” of the party that says we MUST move on from Trump.

What could go wrong?
