Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

Once upon a time the GOP made solid contributions to the Golden State with governors like Reagan, Deukmejian, Wilson and Schwarzenneger. It will be a wonderful thang when the party resumes nominating men (and women) of a similar caliber.

Los Angeles and San Diego also had fine GOP mayors within recent memory. There is no reason for that stream of talent to peter out.

California was a great red state 35 years ago.

It only took one generation of complete Democrat control to turn it into a *literal* ****hole

Californians have and will in the future vote for Republicans. But they will have to be people with some talent and with a positive idea of what it means to govern.

Single-party dominance isn't good for anyone.

They currently are a state where it's leaders will blatantly allow a single restaurant to be exempt from a law bc it is a donor to the governor.

They know there will be no consequences

Anyhow... how about them storm troopers in NY?

New York life expectancy went from 73.4 in 1980 to 81.2 forty years later.

California went from 74.3 to 81.2 in the same span.

Texas from 73.6 to 78.8.

Oklahoma from 73.6 to 75.9.

West Virginia from 72.6 to 74.7.

I don't begrudge red state voters their policy choices. If they want to exchange life expectancy (and teeth) for some other variable that matters more to them that's their business.

But otoh if folks in California and New York like policies that allow them to live longer well good for them. Doesn't make em perfect. Even though those pictures of New York and San Francisco ARE gorgeous.

The greatest states in the union require the national guard to inspect its citizen, and feces apps to know where the **** is

With the blue states so much better than red states why are people leaving to go the red states?

erm, because weather, except for California. so its actually the dumb people who don't know what's best for them. oh and, erm, that raises the iq level of both states!

California is too expensive due to dumb permitting laws.

But to a lesser extent some areas (around Silicon Valley and San Francisco) are expensive because of the value and wealth created by enterprises like Perplexity AI. That's not a bad problem to have. Someday y'all may experience that kind of value and wealth creation. It is a thang to behold. And routine for that part of California.

Remote work and cheaper housing.

Connecticut had some of the highest net migration because it's still close to NY (and Boston) and much cheaper. Delaware also saw migration gains likely from DC and Philly.
