I just want MLB to apply the rules evenly. Ask yourself this, if Acuna was caught doing this, does MLB hesitate to suspend him? I don't think they would. I think they'd make an example out of him.

I don't want MLB to let Ohtani's marketability or the fact that he plays for one of their sacred cows prevent them from applying the rules to him the same as they would someone else.

But MLB will do whatever they can to protect Ohtani and the Dodgers.

Let's see. With the deferrals, Shohei makes $2M. $2M of compensation in California will reach the 37% bracket federal, 13.3% state, although those are marginal, let's say it's 50% just for simplicity...Ohtani brings home $1M/yr, just a little more than we're going to pay Forrest Wall.

If Ohtani paid off that debt, whether it's his or his guy's, that means he's going to be destitute until 2029 or so. Will the Dodgers' per diem even cover the gas for his Lambo?

Becuase most teams have their teams in place and have spent their money. I'm sure it will come out that he had a bigger offer at some point in the offseason like the other Boras clients.
