January 6th insurrection thread...

Eastman along with the candidate tried to enact that legal theory. And unlike Trump Gore actually had a valid reason. Trump and Eastman sought to try to fabricate a reason to enact their legal theory. If there actually was election fraud like they tried to say there was than they did nothing wrong. It was just a means to disenfranchise voters not protecting the integrity of the election.

Gore had no better reason than Trump. Both disputed the results. Gore lost Florida and Dershowitz sought to overturn that which is his right just like Eastman.

Both disputed the results. One conceded and moved on when he lost the court battle. The other continued long after losing the court battle. Dershowitz's legal theory was regarding counting of votes that were DQ'd for one reason or another and his lobbying of state reps was in regards to Florida having a deadline set by them to certify their vote. Precedent by the state court ruled that ballots which failed to meet a requirement but showed intent should be counted and are not illegal ballots. Dershowitz argued that these should be applied to under and over vote ballots where intent was clear, and specifically the butterfly ballots that were slightly misleading. The Florida Supreme court very rarely overturned precedent so the belief was that the case should be sent back to the Florida Supreme Court. The US Supreme Court in a 5-4 ruling said there wasnt time to do the needed recounts before the December 18th deadline required by Florida state law. When Gore lost the lawsuit he conceded and carried out his duty as VP to count the votes certified by the states. That is not in any way comprable to what Trump and Eastman did. Their "legal theory" was to have Pence make unsupported claims of election integrity issues to send it back to only the states Trump lost that had Republican legislatures for "audit" whereby Trump would pressure them to either give him the electoral votes or declare no winner could be determined to deprive Biden of 270 votes so the election goes to the House where Republicans had the voting advantage. That is in no way comprable to what Gore and Dershowitz tried to do.

When do we start talking about restitution to the people who lives were ruined by the communists?

Oh they were victim of a government witchhunt too for political purposes?

Worse, many of them committed zero crimes and spent half of their lives in prison. You don’t think that’s worse than a prosecutor overcharging someone who did commit a crime? If so, I have more bad news about our criminal justice system for you.

Just ignore the political angle to these unjust prosecutions.

You continue to fall for lies.

The decisions behind the prosecution of crimes are almost always political. I have already stated my support for the decision to lower the charges for the accused from 1/6. My challenge isn’t that what happened to these people was just, it’s that other people have bigger gripes, such as being forced to confess to crimes other people committed because of police or prosecutorial misconduct.

Anyone with a brain knows J6 was a complete setup.

Thats why DC is freaking out over Trumps appointments becuase they aren't part of the system that will sweep this under the rug.

I hold the opinion that J6 was not a setup and these people willingly participated in any illegal acts they committed that day. But the only reason for any of these people to still be incarcerated is if they attempted homicide or some serious aggravated assault in the process. Maybe Trump can do a new round of criminal justice reform to accompany the release of anybody not in that group of truly violent offenders. I’ll happily accept a pardon for absolutely all of them if we also fix our pre-trial process, sentencing and bail system and rehabilitation process.

Watching the libs defend the shooting of an unarmed woman is an amazing hypocrisy from them. Just imagine if the color of those involved were reversed.

Byrd is a screwup and a dangerous one at that.
