Someone needs to explain to these students that they can ask other people to leave their own private property. But they can't ask other students to leave space on a campus that doesn't belong to them.
They also need to have it explained to them that free speech goes both ways. They are free to hold their protest. As are those who have different point of views. It is a very good learning experience to find out at an early age that when you push the rest of the world will sometimes push back. That's how the world works.
It aint that complicated.

I predict if and when they reject, and idiots on “elite” college campuses, who definitely care about lives in Gaza, won’t update their signs/chants/demands to reflect the continuing reality that Hamas is to blame.

I have enjoyed from the sidelines these universities (Dr Frankenstein) struggle with the monsters they created.
