What is even more ridiculous is that he puts Pena in the game anyways as the defensive replacement for Johnson.

Freddi basically just wasted a bench player there. If you are bringing in Pena anyways to replace Johnson on defense, why not just pinch hit him for Wood instead of Doumit?

Dumb move.

Completely agree. That doesn't make Doumit worthless! Come on man, be sensible here.

His stuff is as good as any one in the game, and he has control, too. He's amazing. Top 5.

Doumit is fine. As far as the trade, Gilmartin is a nothing guy, maybe a BP or long reliever at best. He had no value in this organization. I think Doumit will be a fine PH.
 
If anyone here thinks Fernandez isn't in the conversation of best pitchers in baseball, they've not been watching much the last year-plus.

Yes. And he did his job last night with a single off the bench. My point is it's EXTREMELY tough to come off the bench as a pinch hitter in the later innings vs a guy who's literally mowing down your lineup. Jump Freddie or Gattis' sh*t for being ineffective. They've had more cracks at him.
