Trump Trials Watch I

so if i don't pay my taxes who is the actual victim

afaik there isn't any victim being harmed

my point is a lot of crimes have costs that are very broadly socialized...they can be quite serious even if there isn't a readily identifiable victim

there is also a bit of a falacy of composition at work here...if one person doesn't pay taxes or falsifies business records it is not a big deal...but if such behavior becomes common then of course it is

The govt

Republican might want to check on Don Jr if they have an issue with drug addicts buying guns. junior is clearly coked up and has lots of guns.

Unlike you, I am supportive of actual justice being served. So yeah, in the same situation, I would hope Don Jr gets the same treatment.

~80 million gun owners in the country and approx 60 million admitted marijuana users in 2023 …safe to assume there are millions of folks who’ve undermined the social honor code by lying on a government form. I’m unbothered.

I am supportive of fixing the criminal justice system to be about justice and you just want a corrupt man to be above the law. Do you notice how Republicans haven't advocates for any changes. They just want the meat grinder of a criminal justice system they have tirelessly defended to not being used against them.

Above the law? In what way?

It's a fact that the legal basis for the election fraud trial was absurd. They brought a felony charge second charge off a misdemeanor crime that was already past the statute of limitations. And it was the first time in history someone was prosecuted on the state level for a federal election. It should have been allowed to even make it trial. And any legal analyst who isn't biased admits as such.

There are a lot of legal analysts who hold a different view. I suppose that makes them by definition biased.

It's easy. Anyone who agrees with him is an honest person and anyone who disagrees is biased and their opinions can be discarded. Thus everyone not biased agrees with him.

Didn't you yourself post a NYT article from a NY lawyer that was friends with both Trump's defense attorney and Bragg? An article where he clearly criticizes the process in which they charged Trump?

I've posted from several analysts with different points of view including one who went from one view to the opposite conclusion.
