I believe the military only takes immigrants who are here legally.

I am for enforcing our immigration laws too. In fact, I think they should be modified to process bogus asylum claims more quickly.

However, I also think it should be noted that illegal immigrants are a benefit to the economy. Many small businesses would lose significant chunks of their workforce if they were deported en masse. Small businesses are one of the GOP's favored constituencies. This is why I don't think there will be any sort of large deportation program even if the GOP does very well this fall. We already deport a significant number of illegal immigrants. There will be some tweaks. But the large numbers (10 million or so) that currently live and work here will mostly be unaffected. Cuz we need them. Especially the small businesses that employ them in large numbers and pay them under the table.

It is probably over 10 million. Which only goes to reinforce my point about the effects of a mass deportation on small businesses. The howls of protest will be loud. And ironic since many of these small business owners are Trumpy in their political inclinations. But it won't happen. Cuz in the end there will be some largely cosmetic adjustments in deportation policy but no mass deportation program. I'm not too worried about my favorite taqueria closing down because half the workers will be sent home.

Weird that there wasn’t a shortage of labor when real wages were increasing under Trump and then Biden opens the door.

The lies and misrepresentations out of your mouth are endless. Fortunately, you and your ilk have lied so much it has little to no impact on the population.

There was also no mass deportation in the Trump years. The overwhelming majority of the illegal immigrants went on with their lives, while mowing our lawns, repairing our roofs and taking care of our children. We will see a rinse and repeat if he is returned to office.

All ingredients to kick illegal migrants out of the country.
 
Also - trump never called for a deportation force in term 1. Just a wall to stop what happened under the Biden regime so the comparison to predict the future is as spot on as the rest of the trash that you spew.

Define mass and I’ll say yes.

Much of it will be self deportation through smart policy like taxing remittances and enforcing on the books laws for illegal hiring. Without any deportation force the exodus will be glorious.

I’m ok with high skilled labor competition.

It’s a shame but lots of American workers are spoiled and don’t work hard enough.

Low skilled labor is a completely different market and we should do everything possible to protect the underbelly of Americans.
