Trump Trials Watch I

The optics of Biden going after Trump after the assassination attempt would be dreadful. So he won't do it.
I don't know if optics or sympathy for a defendant's circumstances should be the overriding consideration. Menendez' wife is being treated for breast cancer. Does that give her a pass for any crimes she may have committed. Her trial has been postponed while she is being treated. That seems right. I don't think the charges should be dropped.

I don't think Biden has any immediate decision to make on this case. Judge Cannon's ruling will be appealed, a process that is going to go on for while. It is worth getting a ruling from the Supreme Court on whether the independent prosecutor mechanism is constitutional.

Theoretically it could be retaken because I think it was dismissed without prejudice. However, good luck with that. lolololol

The fault on this lies squarely at Garland's feet. Tell him to actually follow the law next time.

There is no theoretically about it. Unless he gets a pardon the case will go on and he will be convicted. It's not even legally certain he can pardon himself. Why is it you don't want the case to adjudicated if you think he is innocent. Wouldn't beating the case on the merits of the case be a huge boon for him? All this does is show he knows he will be convicted if he doesn't obstruct the case.

WTF are you listening to? The case is done unless the appellates reverse it.

No, it doesn't show he would be convicted. Why would anybody in their right mind want to play out the lawfare?

Perhaps if these weasels hadn't tried to wait until an election year to try the case they wouldn't be in this jam.

I know you believe it's because it's Trump delayed them but that's not the reason.

Think about how much time of 57s and cajuns lives have been spent watching these trials, following the Mueller investigation, watching every second of the Jan 6 committees

All for literally nothing to come from it, and a likely second term for President Trump

Uh, wut? Please remove your head from your ass sir. I didn't watch any Trump trial. I reacted to the Mueller investigation news which you and many others here did as well. I watched zero seconds of the j6 committee which means I followed it less than most of you. And the possibility of several Trump criminal trials was a real possibility acknowledged by me from the start. Stop projecting what you spend your time on to me.

The case is done because Judge Cannon appointed by Trump delayed the case with stupid **** until Trump can pardon himself. The only issue right now is wether Jack Smith prosecutes the case or the DoJ itself prosecutes the case. I don't see the appellate court agreeing with Cannon so it's just a matter of time before he wins there. How the Supreme Court rules I don't know other than Clarence Thomas who is basically a Trump campaign lawyer at this point.

The crimes weren't known about until 2023. And then they just asked nicely for Trump to comply with the law for several months. Then after he refused to comply did they treat it as a criminal matter. Then he was charged in 2023. Election year is 2024.

Oh so judges political nature DO have a lot of bearing on the case outcome. Does this same effect happen in certain districts in NY or DC?

Everyone should be judged by their actions. The NY Judge has no incentive to do anything that would get the case overturned on a technicality on appeal. It would be to Trumps favor if the judge treated him unfairly. That Judge wasn't appointed by anyone involved in the case. In Cannons case being appointed by the defender is about as clear of conflict of interest as it gets. 10 bucks says she is Trumps Supreme Court pick of he wins and gets a nomination. She did her job. That's the reward.

The word you are looking for is "right". By what you people think no politician could ever be charged with a crime or civil matter because they were either appointed by their side or the other.

Do you predict Donald trump spends a day in prison?

Short answer no. Long answer yes if he loses in November. I predict a 60-90 day suspended sentence in his NY fraud conviction. I predict a conviction in Florida if he can't pardon himself. I predict a conviction in Georgia if the case is adjudicated. I think it's 50/50 on a conviction in J6 case. Georgia, Florida, and DC he would get prison time unless they invent some special house arrest situation because of his status as a former President. If he wins in November I predict he croaks before he would have to serve time. I don't recall the pardon situation in Georgia but Kemp should be gone by then so there's the possibility of a state pardon.

I don't call him the Teflon Don for nothing. Thanks for asking though instead of just assigning me a position then arguing against what you made up.

Trump won't spend a day in prison regardless, or any sort of house arrest. If he loses in Nov, the Dems will drop all charges because he will no longer be running for office after losing to sleepy Joe twice.

If Trump wins, he won't serve a day in prison/house arrest either for obvious reasons.

No charges of any kind were ever filed until he decided to run again and was leading the Republican ticket. Then amazingly all these charges appear just months after he announced, despite having years to charge him.

Sure, tell me, who announces their candidacy then sits on their ass for 2 months. He announced he was running because he knew charges were coming and wanted this optic.

Over 2 years before the first charges were brought against him. But sure. TOTALLY legit.

There are legitimate reasons for that. The DoJ didn't even bring charges against Trump. They handed it off to a special counsel same as they did for Biden. That special counsel brought charges. For all we know Merrick Garland was never going to charge Trump. In Georgia the DA did a special grand jury to remove any appearance of bias. Which is always a mistake because you people make the claim anyways.
