GDT 7/29: East Bound and Down, Loaded up and Truckin’

I didn't like extensions either...this season has made these contracts impossible to move without paying the bill...

I think AA panicked because teams were stealing bases at an alarming rate on WC and TDA..but then the league makes the bases 4 times larger thus making that deal awful...he just can't hit worth a sh*t
Yeah..but how the hell you play 148 in Oakland and 108 in Atlanta? That's dumb af. TDA or not..this team would have been fine with Bill and TDA for that matter.

AA and the benefit of the doubt.....is a thing. But blindly saying he can't miss is stupid. Can he right a few wrongs in the next how ever many hours? I'm hoping so, while acknowledging injuries really screwed this team. That bench depth is on AA.

I promise this ain't I told ya so..but a few of us were literally roasted for questioning those deals. Murphy specifically was unnecessary. Period. Aside from the fact Murphy is more a platoon player, it's safe to assume Snit is a complete moron and AA didn't read the room on that trade! I know Matt..Enscheff..myself..and a couple of others didn't like the deal. Damn. I thought he'd play 130 games or more. What a complete disaster.

I haven't hesitated to question some of the moves either. Anthopoulos has employed a strategy with the extensions that is relatively untried (although more teams are doing it in a more limited sense) and does have more risk that many of his supporters are willing to admit. I understood the logic behind the Murphy deal, but the acquisition cost was pretty high and I thought the reflex action to extend him was questionable. Anthopoulos does a good job, but he's not infallible.

People need to relax on Murphy. He's hitting the ball hard and having ****ty luck the last couple of weeks. (like the rest of the team outside of Ozuna). His .235 BABIP is way too low. And for it's worth, he has an .861 OPS over his last 23 games.

The hits WILL start falling for our guys eventually and they will come in bunches. Arcia is on a 9 game hit streak currently and has homered in 2 straight. Olson has been hot the last week or so. Riley has a .875 OPS dating back to the start of June.

Their struggles this year look a lot worse because they all have struggled simultaneously (they've also been extended slumps), and because injuries have forced bench caliber players into full time roles.

Yesterday was a tough one to lose. Kenny P goes out and absolutely shoves, and the pen (whos been brilliant) blows it spectacularly.

Not that it would have guaranteed a win.. but the pen was mismanaged. No way do you send Jesse out in the 6th to face 1-2-3 in the lineup. you use a higher leverage guy right then.. JJ or Johnson.. then JJ or Johnson for the 7th with Minter/Bummer ready for a tough lefty with men on.. Then in the 8th if everything above goes well Jesse for the bottom of the lineup.. Riggy for the 9th. These are really easy moves that would make this team so much better, but twit can wrap his head around.

Nacho has got to go down immediately. He can't be on the 26 man roster in 24 hours. We need to trade for someone capable of playing 2b today.

It’s times like this when the tactical ineptitude of snit really shines through. When the team is at full strength rolling over teams it doesn’t really matter what calls he makes. When the team is struggling to win 90 games with marginal talent every advantage makes a difference.

why I want to rid this team of everything Cox. not bashing him.. does no good here.. but this old school think tank of managers is killing this team.. AA time to get out of the 90's braves and the pitching factor crap that was thrown around.. bullpen roles are a thing of the past.. lets move on mkay.

It feels like they just threw up the white flag and had no expectations of winning. Just wanted to eat innings.
